In this week's episode, #116, I will continue to explore myths, folklore and beliefs about trees in Irish tradition, and in this episode we will look specifically at the hawthorn or whitethorn tree. Many of these trees were held to be sacred, and there are some interesting traditions about the hawthorn.

Thanks. Looking forward to the tree episode dealing with the most noble of the woods, the Oak. Hope we will receive plenty of notice for this episode. Let all fear and tremble when the the sound of an axe is heard! Trees are sacred and are the lungs of the world. We are in a symbiotic relationship and need to bathe in the mixed forest.

Clearly the good folk were upset by the mention of the tree that had all its branches removed and decided to crash the Facebook feed lol. Another great episode thanks for sharing.

Sacred trees and plants are an integral and cultural part of indigenous peoples across the planet. Even today, in the Holy Land, there are sacred trees that people adorn with bits of cloth or tokens. Incense, (byproduct of sap and leaves of sacred plants) is still being used for magical and religious purposes.
The White Hawthorne tree of Europe (Britain) is considered an invasive species and live specimens cannot be imported into the United States. Oddly, it is difficult to produce plants from the seeds of the Hawthorne (in places like California), due to the germination necessity of seasonal cold temperatures being required (like tulip bulbs). In warmer climes, the seeds must be kept moist and refrigerated for months if germination is to occur.

The song “Happy Birthday” has a copywrite and could be why your fb feed stopped?
