The government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) says 270 civilians were killed in a massacre in its eastern town of Kishishe last week.
The government also claims ‘children were killed’ in the attack and blames the killings on the M23 armed group.
The DRC accuses neighbouring Rwanda of backing the rebel group, an allegation that Rwanda denies.
The latest development in the conflict takes place as another round of peace talks wraps up.

Al Jazeera's @Malcolm Webb reports from Nairobi, Kenya.

The biggest mistake DCR made is to accept Ugandans in their peace talks. The killer Kagame Kagonyori and his gang had been trained in Uganda. The trainer of the regional destabilizers is solely Uganda. DRC should fight both Rwanda and uganda to solve the problems sustainably

DRC. a country blessed with everything but the people refused the blessings.
The Congolese say that the conflict started in the 1990s. Really? What happened before that time?
Of course before then, they knew no conflict because they were doing the killings, looting and stealing from the minority groups. Now the minority groups have finally found some powerful friends and you know you will do nothing about it. Unless you commit another genocide on the minority groups, which you have already committed countless times. If you think that you will force anyone out of where they've lived for 100s years you are mistaken. You don't have a military, you also lack diplomacy. Common too isn't your strongest suit...Congolese government, you are a joke.
You provide guns to militias and order them to commit massacres all the time with absolutely no questions asked and no consequences. Who are you kidding??

Has Aljazeera ever mentioned a certain greek member of the European parliament recently? The one who was caught fleeing a hotel with bags of cash as if it were the 1860s wild west?

A group of investigators who actually went there *(NEITHER* the UN nor Aljazeera have bothered doing so) has published its findings in both video and text forms:
On 22/11/2022, the second day of fighting between the M23 and the FARC, *one* woman was killed in *Bambo* by a bomb launched by the FARC. She is the only casualty in the locality of *Bambo.*
Residents including aggrieved families and the M23 agree that precisely *nineteen (19)* people were killed during the fighting that took place in *Kishishe* on the 29/11/22 in two neighbourhoods of *Kishishe:* avenues Kirama and Sukuma.
*No children, minors, or women* were killed in Kishishe.
*No kidnaps* were conducted in Kishishe and Bambo.
*No churches, no schools were set on fire.*
*No rape or any other form of sexual* abuse was perpetrated in Kishishe.
The residents and the M23 agree that *eight (8) of the people killed were civilians.* The M23 explains that those were caught in exchange of fire and has apologized to their relatives and community.
Residents and the M23 do not totally agree on the identity of eleven (11) of the people killed. The M23 asserts that these people were combatants in civilian clothes. On their part, the residents are *not sure whether these victims were militia combatants or civilians* although *they acknowledge that they were **_not residents_** of Kishishe or Bambo.*
The eight (8) deceased residents of Kishishe were *individually buried by the relatives* while the eleven (11) other non- residents were buried in three graves, two of four and one of three.
No one is held in Kishishe against their will. Citizens *come and go as they please.*
Two *lists of victims were drawn and signed* by the population: One of eight (8) victims and one of all the nineteen (19) dead.
[All of the names are provided in the report.]
