As a Filipino, I know of someone who, as a child, never sang at home while everybody in his family did. Maybe he was too shy. But when he got inspired having a girlfried at 16 he started to sing love songs of high keys at their home karaoke. His family, together with the neighborhood, got surprised and they pushed him to join, eventually winning most of the time, local community to national singing contests, and the rest is history. He is now a famous singing celebrity and composer.

Filipinos will just blurted out into singing whatever we are doing, anytime, anywhere. I think its just one way of sighing. We substitute singing for sighing cause the latter is just gloomy from the inside. But whatever we sing it translates from our emotions and feelings of what we are currently doing. Sounds like musical but candid. Usually in the chorus part, a particular song for a particular emotion/feelings while doing a task of that particular moment. "Give me one moment in time" hahaha. That's Filipinos for you.

The Filipino rep is so accurate in her description like:
1) every household has a portable home karaoke machine that's why you'll hear your neighbors sing even during midnights ..she even mentioned the brand Magic Sing 😂
2) We put so much premium on "belting" thus we love power vocalists like Mariah, Whitney, Beyonce, and a lot of black singers
3) every one sings in karaoke in any typical Pinoy parties or gathering, thus mic sharing/passing happened so they don't have to fight over a mic lol
4) singing in supermarkets or malls is common because we like "testing" the mic instead of buying it 😂 so we get to have free vocal training any day hehehe
