Derwent Inktense Lightfast Tests and Results

These are lightfast results for the Derwent Inktense 36 set of Ink Pencils. I use the Inktense pencils and blocks quite often and wanted to see how well they hold up to light and sun exposure. The results are after 1 year of sunlight exposure, with the color tab being placed in a window during the summer months and in a bright room during the fall and winter. There is some slight fading of the red and pink tones, overall not that bad. The wet or activated colors seem to keep their tone a little better than the dry ones. I will re-post on these in six months to a year to see how they continue to hold up. So far, I am pretty happy with the results.

Thanks! Although I wish the swatches were larger so I can see them clearly or zoom in on them.

Thank you very much. I detest the fact they don’t list lightfastness on the pencils.

Thanks so much for sharing this - it's really helpful. I'm actually impressed by how the Inktense did in the test - better than I expected. I look forward to an update in another six months or year!

thanks for this video..I intended to do such a test but you saved my time and the results are just like Derwent lightfastness chart..but I think intense blocks are more lightfast than pencils especially for the reds as declared by Derwent inktense blocks chart.
