Gabe Perez-Giz, research scientist at New York University's Center for Cosmology & Particle Physics, answers your questions!

Questions:

1. What is preventing light from going faster than 300 000 km/s?

2.If photon has rest mass = 0 , then why does black hole pull it in?

3. When black holes absorb matter, the matter's velocity accelerates into the black hole because of stronger and stronger gravity. But how about light? The speed of light is the limit, so what happens then? :-)

Correction: Light does not always travel at its maximum speed, which is when its in a vacuum. Light has actually been slowed down to 38 miles per hour in a laboratory. Look it up.

I wish they would answer these questions as if I was a child because I really really want to understand but it just makes my head hurt

If a scientist doesn't know the answer to a question, then its not a good question? Got it.
