First-time jobless claims have fallen to a new pandemic-era low for the fifth straight week, as 269,000 Americans filed for the week ending October 30. Lori Bettinger, co-president of BancAlliance and the former director of the Troubled Asset Relief Program under the Obama administration, joined CBSN to discuss the latest jobs numbers.

Keep in mind just because unemployment claims have declined doesn’t mean people that are unemployed have declined. If you don’t qualify for unemployment why would you try to get it?

Jobless claims back to normal but productivity has sunk. It looks like Unions are negotiating pay raises as we speak and it doesn't look good for the workers. The mood of the people should matter to the Brandon administration. Bread crumbs won't be enough this time. We have been taking bread crumbs for years now.

US Economy 100% Dead:
1. NO livable wages of $27/Hour and up to be found
2. Cost Of Living went up and forcing poor Americans to stay inside 90% of the time to save money
3. Gas prices too high: poor Americans barely going out and only for need based goods to restock if on sale!
4. Employer workplace have no work life balance
5. Breaks not evenly distributed throughout the day
6. Americans need minimum $3, 000/Month ( after taxes) to save up for retirement, a home, invest in themselves!
7. US real unemployment is way over 55% + permanently for Americans! Imagine over 1/2 of workforce not working because there are no livable wage respectable employers!

My last real job was a part time seasonal position that paid minimum wage. Most of my co-workers were middle aged or older, while only about 3 were in their 20's. I'll tell you this; the new generation of workers doesn't seem interested in picking up these kind of low level jobs (granted few people are). I left that job for an unpaid internship in research rather than getting transferred like my other co-workers once the seasonal term ended.

I'm looking to get a master's degree and eventually a PHD. I'm also looking to gain work experience in a specific field, not work tirelessly in a dead end job for the rest of my life just to survive. At least from the people I've spoken with, the younger generation seems to have similar ideas. This new generation of workers doesn't seem to want to pick up where the previous generations have left off.
