1 Timothy 6:17
Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.

ALUX FAM. Growing up my parent will say "isale oro legbin", which in Yoruba language(South-west Nigeria) means "The base of all wealth is filthy with corruption ". Thank God I unlearned and relearn everything. Great piece as always guys 🔥🔥🔥

I grew up in the lower-middle class, and watched my mom work two, sometimes three jobs to keep the household together. Not everyone who's poor is lazy, as was strongly implied in #10. Thankfully I wasn't told any of these statements growing up, but living on my own for the first time, I was unprepared for a lot and barely survived on my own (far away from family and support) on minimum wage. Being in poverty takes up an exorbitant amount of headspace because you're constantly wondering where the money will come from for basic necessities. Science even shows poverty physically changes the brain. It wasn't until I got a better job and could easily pay for all my needs that I realized just how much poverty had affected my peace and my ability to think clearly.

My parents provided most of this advice to me and my siblings, but with the extra rider that we should supplant their advice with better advice if we felt it was more aligned with our aspirations. I feel fortunate my parents were brave enough to break the cycle of bad advice by allowing their children to explore their own path. I'm happy to say their method seems to have worked! Alux Fam!

The only thing I had going for me growing up was that I knew almost everything everybody told me was wrong. My question was always "If you're so smart, why is your life the way it is?" Breaking out of a chaotic disfunctional family of origin is tough and they won't like you for it but it can be done.

Believing in any religion or not doesn't make a person either rich or poor, it is your determination and actions that will make you wealthy...

Cut down expenses is not the solution. You don't have a spending problem, you have an income problem.

What about the saying “ I have a lot of children so they can take care of me when I’m old “
Or the thought if saving broken things and having a mess all over the house because of that .
There is also the thought of not going to the doctor because of the fear of finding out some bad sickness on our bodies.

You might want to listen to those elders if you think you're in their will. Pissing them off never really helps in the long run. And, listening is not obedience. You still have a choice.
