I wonder how hard that songs is going to be to recreate faithfully live? It sounds amazing but he's also got a hell of a studio workshop and awesome engineering help, plus he is a good sound man himself. There is an old folk instrument in India, Bengal region especially. It's known as 'Ektara', which works in the same concept. A string suspended between two wood sticks and the pitch is modulated with the pressure. Another one is 'Gupi Jantra' and lastly is 'Khamak'. Look them up.
