The Kenobi Series NEEDS to be Redemption

I wanted to talk about the Kenobi Series and how I think it's Disney’s last hope for redeeming Star Wars in the eyes of many fans. And if you don’t think there’s a problem with Disney Star Wars, just think of this video as my hopes for the Kenobi series, which honestly, that’s what it is.

The show needs to be a character story and build off what George and Filoni set up for him after clone wars and revenge of the sith, the training Yoda received in clone wars is what we should see for Obi Wan, and for the love of god if Darth Vader is in it physically, I’m going to be fucking mad, if he’s a force vision fine

I really want the obi-wan series to open with the deleted scene from the clone wars where anakin and obi-wan discuss ahsoka leaving the order, and obi-wan mentions that he can sleep soundly since he knows that anakin will never disappoint him. if we got that as a flashback, then a cut to obi-wan sitting up, unable to sleep in tatooine, it'd be the perfect opening to the series. other than that, I'm just hoping they do obi-wan's character justice

It's strange, I genuinely don't know *what* I want from the Obi-Wan series, but I think you've done a great job summarizing some of the more important things that the series needs to examine.

I truly believe that for THIS show certain people who kept shoving their views into the ST and its EU NEED to stay out of it. That is the first essential thing. This has to be a project that reflects the vision of Deborah Chow and Joby Harold and not the 340 headcanons of arrogant people thrown into the mix. I would build this from the ground up based on where Obi-Wan and Anakin/Vader are at this point in the journey, what happened to them, what they struggle with and then look for a story that can showcase all of that in a nuanced way. No more themes, no more "but this is what people expect, so let's do something else" bullshit. One whole, clear storyline that picks up the themes from the PT, leading up to the OT, and the characters BEING who they are with everything that comes with it. First flash them out, then the rest should follow by itself.

I love Obi-wan, and I agree wholeheartedly. This show needs to be good. I have been finding myself slowly drifting farther and farther from the franchise, but I keep coming back to this show and wondering what it will be like and if it will reignite the passion I used to have for new projects coming out.

Above anything. This series needs to pull a heartstring in a way somewhat comparable to Revenge of the Sith. Wether it is with images as Lucas used to do it, or with some of the things that were left unsaid in that movie. If it can do that then it should be a success.

I remember seeing a fan trailer for the Kenobi series way back that used footage from a film Ewan was in from 2015 called Last Days in The Desert (haven't seen it myself) and footage from The Last Temptation of Christ with Willem Dafoe. It was quiet, contemplative, full of desert vistas and used Ewan's dialogue from Last Days in The Desert and the Prequel Trilogy for a voice-over meant to be a mix of Obi-Wan's thoughts and memories. That's what this show needs to be: Samurai Jack but it's Obi-Wan on Tatooine fighting his inner demons and keeping a weather eye on Luke. I'm down for seeing Obi-Wan do more than that, but that's what he NEEDS to do for this series to be worth making.

I agree. I don't know exactly what I want for sure but certain elements need to be there. Characterization and plot for most. Obi Wan's post trauma thoughts and how he deals with it in isolation. I'd like to see Force Ghost Qui Gon at some point, It needs to show him protecting Luke, and his relationship with the Lars. I am excited to see Hayden back just so long as he doesn't overshadow Ben, but good flashbacks are welcome. I've always believed Ben and Luke met more times than Luke's parents were aware of.

I think we need to see Kenobi be traumatically effected by Anakin’s fall to the darkside, so much so that Kenobi might have flashbacks or see Anakin appear as a mirage in the show. I also think that we need to explore Force Ghosts more as at the end of ROTS Yoda says that Qui Gon would teach him more stuff about the Force and other things. Yoda also said that he would teach Kenobi how to talk/commune with Qui Gon too. I also think some more history with the Tuskin Raiders would be nice as Kenobi does seem to have had experience with them in ANH too!

I want the show to end with Ben's introduction in ANH. I really want a transition shot where he goes from being Ewan McGregor to Alec Guinness. Even if it's just the final scene.
