India's Modi Arrives in Japan, Holds talks with Abe on Sidelines of G-20 Summit

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Osaka, Thursday, June 27, and met with his Japanese counterpart, Shinzo Abe, on the sidelines of the upcoming Group of 20 summit in the city.
Concerns over trade, conflict and oil will dominate the G-20 summit of major economies in Japan this weekend, with attention focused on a meeting between the leaders of the United States and China, which are embroiled in a lengthy trade war.
New Delhi and Washington are also facing fast-deteriorating ties after India slapped higher duties on 28 U.S. products after the United States withdrew tariff-free entry for certain Indian goods. Tokyo and Washington are facing tensions over the U.S.-Japan security alliance, the linchpin of Japan's security policies, which U.S. President Donald Trump criticized ahead of the G-20 meeting. It's good to see the two leaders of two non-belligerent powers in the Asia/Pacific region on apparently good terms. They face a serious threat and challenge from China, which is determined to extend its hegemony over the whole region, and hopefully they'll develop the means to ensure their security and independence. This would also be a good opportunity for the US to show its good faith in offering whatever assistance it can to help these two countries.
