From a psychology view, alot of this backlash comes from a low self esteem. Today, if you offend these teenage girls who find alot of their enjoyment from these creators the word cringe will bring them down. If you disagree with their opinion, they will react with aggression and hostility because they care about it so much and if you don't give them validation or agree with them then it will offend their sensitive self esteem and the backlash will be so great because all of these kids have the same mindset and hate that you don't agree with them.
