🎸 Lesson Summary

5 Fast Rock Guitar Licks For Beginners. So you're a beginner and you're starting to learn lead guitar... Perfect! In this lesson, we introduce you to a great technique that will help you play fast rock guitar in no time! We tackle 5 licks in this style and even provide the backing track and tab for every single lick. Enjoy!

Let's begin by taking a look at the E minor pentatonic scale, which is the scale that we are playing through in each of the 5 licks. It is so important to be able to attribute a lick to a scale shape or arpeggio, as this will allow you to use the lick in other keys and in your own improvisation. (See Website)

Dan, as a rock fan all I ever wanted to do is a lick on a guitar. You have just made an old man very happy.

Dan, thank you for the excellent teaching approach you use. You are the first guitar teacher that really knows how to get any beginner going on his way to rock lead guitar.

This is going to help me a lot! I'm a beginner, I'm also going on 50 years old, but it's something I always wanted to do. So I got myself a Epiphone Firebird and a bogner mini head. Oh what a sweet sound I have gotten! But I want to learn how to play it like this! Excellent job good sir!

Just perfect, very structured, with good technical explanations.
Also very focussed on the playing, no fancy sound effects, great to build up that learning process. I absolutely love it.

I really appreciate the way you broke down exactly how you play each note. I have been playing guitar for years but never focused on playing faster stuff until about the last year. It's kind of like carving mt. Rushmore with sandpaper, you just have to practice, practice, practice, but it helps when people break down the methods to the tiniest detail like you have done here.

Lots of fun! I found that playing Lick #1 while you're playing Lick #4 they're in harmony. 👍

Hi. I'm writing from Turkey. I've been taking guitar lessons for 8 months. I've just discovered you, but thank you very much for being such a good descriptor on this subject that I'm having the most trouble with.

I apologize in advance if there are any spelling mistakes in my post. :)

Been playing acoustic guitar for years, now I am more into electric guitar, and I want to solo. Thanks for teaching, this is the best!

What is it with these Brits and how well and clear they teach on guitar? When they're done teaching you something, you have zero questions because they cover everything. Reminds me of a guy back in the day, Martin Goulding. The one guy I'd pay $100 a lesson for. I would have killed for these guys over 20 years ago when I started.

The only thing I will advice is, on the first lick, do not pick the A note on the G string. Instead hammer on from no where, it will sound better and it will give you more practice with the legato lick. Shoot for making the notes CLEAR and LOUD, if it takes you 5 minutes to make that happen, so be it. Once you get the notes down clear and with good volume, the speed will come very quickly.

Excellent video man, well done.
