In this video, I am finally out for a camp after a long and extended break!
I head out in my canoe to a favourite spot on my local river for a solo wild camp in my half Laavu shelter. An Australian ration pack for food, some rum and a warm fire followed by a reasonably comfortable night in an 80 year old woollen sleeping bag from World War 2 - happy days!

I am sorry for the long wait for this video after my last camp at Christmas - I needed to take some time off to catch up on jobs at home (a very long list of essential repairs) and to spend some time with my family. I am very glad to be back in front of the camera now though, and I will continue to film my adventures as often as I can.

I'm a 75 yo female...born in upstate NY. We grew up with feather ticks and wool blankets from the Native American reservation. They were warm and comfy. I have a full size 100% wool blanket in my emergency bag....😊

Schön, Dich wiederzusehen Simon! Du hattest es angekündigt, dass Du eine Auszeit nimmst. Aber es war doch recht lange und so langsam bekam ich Entzugserscheinungen! Du bist übrigens die Ursache, dass ich mir mit 83 Jahren wieder ein kleines Boot besorgt habe und im vergangenen Jahr mit Hund, Boot und Zelt losgezogen bin. Es war wunderschön! When I discovered YouTube it took a while to find a place in the programming that I liked. YouTube recommended this channel and it became home. This is my favourite channel on this platform and I’m glad Simon is back- it’s good to be home again.

I had one of those sleeping bags way back in the early 70’s that I bought at the Army surplus… and it itches like crazy! I was a 12 year old kid and was not smart enough to know what getting cold was. The Aussies must really have a sweet tooth. I worked out of Darwin and Moomba Australia in the mid 90’s and guess I never tried a ADF military ration. I stopped summer tent camping here in Texas where I moved with the company I retired from… between snakes and blistering heat… it is impossible (yes a bit spoiled) to sleep. Another excellent video sir and thank you for sharing.
