While Hurricane Milton is not heading toward South Florida, the area will still feel some effects of the storm this week, leading to long lines Tuesday for sandbags at Floyd Hull Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.

The only way to prepare for a category 5 is to leave.

When will people realize sandbags dont stop water. Use spray foam or silicone caulk. Spray foam is best

I don't know how you prepare for that.

Lol 5 sang bags per person. You can make a little stand to hop up on when the water gets high. Why even waste your time with that? Unless you got sand bags to stack 10 ft high its not going to do anything

I don't know why they bother all the expense all that hard work it isn't going to do any good if they get flooded and then it's 20ft deep

So you live there, where there are hurricanes, and you don't have them stacked up on your yard ready to go????

It is not a category six storm or seven storm or higher, so I think people in Florida will be OK because they are very experienced at confronting hurricanes and they have good preparations.

Building an effective wall of sandbags is a monumental task. Surrounding a house would take tens of tons, not five sandbags.

Yall need to be investing in those hurricane barriers.

A part of me wants to move to FL. But the other part is like NAH.. It's not worth going through this every year.... You basically have to get your home rebuilt every few years. No wonder insurance companies are pulling out

890mb, one of the lowest pressures recorded. doesn't matter east or west coast, storm surge still happens under that low of a pressure. rainfall still happens. IDK why anyone still tries to live less than 20 feet above sea level.
