His reaction to Will being stabbed still hurts me more than anything else in these movies.

_Proceeds to ignore that he saved Elisabeth in the first movie or Will in the third, that he didn’t kill Will in the first movie to escape in the forge and planned everything so neither Elisabet, Will or his crew would simply die, safed will again from dying at the end of the first movie…_ He saves his own life on the one hand but on the other hand he’s not a bad pirate

I really loved watching this video last night. I think it really makes sense of his character build for the movie. But also watching him actually do things for other people (even if it is for his own gain in the end) 😅 I think if he dealt with some events that happened in the later films. He would of just bolted. But he made quite strong friendships and I believe he did change as a pirate, I think in the end he did end up caring

I really thought y'all were going to bring up why he was a pirate In the first place. He was a pirate because people aren't property

Yeah, I could see alcoholism, BPD, Bipolar Disorder, and PTSD. However, I didn’t completely agree with Jon Decker’s analysis of ASPD because he cares too much about people to just be a sociopath.

What are you talking about? He puts forward this persona of being selfish and just being some kind of perfect pirate sure...

But then proceeds to put himself into harms way again, and again, and agin to save the people he cares about.

In the first movie he knows the treasure is cursed, but still takes some anyway, knowing that it's the only way he can save will and fight Barbosa.

He even sends out Barbosa's crew to fight the Navy, hoping he can break the curse in time, saving as many people as possible from being killed.

He is the epitome of self sacrifice in pursuit of the protection of his loved ones. He gives up on things he wants multiple times to protect his crew.

Saving Elizabeth totally helped him in the first film, huh? 😮

jack sparrow would be a really unlikeable person if he was real, he is only charming and funny because it's a movie. but the movies showed one thing very well: although he succeeds a lot more in the movies than in real life, most of the success is temporary. other characters become tired of his antics or they literally start hating him.
i also think the movies did a good job by showing that in the end, he always kinda ends up alone because no one can/wants to keep up with him.
