The Magic Drip Drop Bottle experiment was five-year-old Aayansh’s entry into the Wolsey Hall Oxford Homeschooling Community Science Experiment competition.

Aayansh is homeschooling with Wolsey Hall Oxford in India and entered his video into the ‘Most Unusual Experiment’ category.

Aayansh’s mum kindly gave us an overview of the experiment:

‘I organized this experiment for my 5 year old to understand the 'Properties of Air Pressure' and also encourage recycling. So, we begin with a plastic bottle and make some holes in it and fill it with water. Here's an interesting part, even though there are holes the water doesn't flow out when the bottle lid is fastened. As soon as the lid is loosened the water rushes through the holes. This happens as air pressure is a strong force and high pressure moves towards low pressure. I set-up a little car washing facility as well to keep him engaged and encourage curiosity.’

We loved this magic drop drop bottle experiment and it was clear that Aayansh had a clear understanding of the principles at work.

We always recommend adult supervision for any science experiment.
