This is my DIY installation of the Elon Musk signature edition Tesla charger in my garage. Upgrade your EV charging speed by wiring up a dedicated charger. While you can do it yourself, it's always recommended to contact a licensed electrician for this work.

This is a re-upload of my original 2019 video. I've addressed a few mistakes I made when wiring up the charger the first time.

On any future project involving conduit, your life will be much simpler if you run the wires/cable through each individual part (elbows, straights, adapters) before gluing the conduit together. Once you have the needed amount of wire protruding from each final end, running the pvc glue around each pvc part and then pressing into and
rotating the 2 pieces lightly. You will end up with the same rigid assembly you show in your video, just less issues with trying to snake wire

Correct on the drywall screws. ALSO: You should put something like sill seal(thin foam) between brick, concrete, stucco and the plywood to prevent moisture from damaging the plywood. Moisture from brick-to-wood: These 3 materials can condensate due to temperature changes. No matter where you live.

Great job Josh, it’s especially useful to find this here as i’m installing a Gen2 unit that was purchased in 2019.

Unless you have 100% power off at panel, using a metal fish tape could be very hazardous. FYI.

Just be sure to use schedule 80 pvc anywhere it could be subject to damage. So basically unless its inside the wall or underground it should be schedule 80 not schedule 40.

Great tutorial but I think I’ll just pay the $500 to have it install and NOT se my house on fire and blow up my Tesla 😂

Josh, struggling to know if my L1 and L2 leads made it sufficiently up inside the connector. You glaze over that despite saying you also struggled. How can one tell if they are inserted properly?

It’s against the law to install without a permit.
