Tiguan driver for 9 years now, the 4Motion system is top of the line in terms of safety when compared to any car maker. I have seen huge SUVs stuck in snow while my little Tiguan dug itself out. The 4Motion systems makes your car feel planted and reacts so fast you won't even know that there is slippage. I recommend this crossover for families or people who live in snowy areas. Do not buy a CRV or RAV4 if you have snow lol or you will be shoveling a lot.

Volkswagen's 4Motion is basically the same as Audi's Quattro in the A1 and A3, as well as the cheaper Q models. It's not permanent 4 wheel drive and only sends power to the rear wheels when it senses a loss of traction in the front wheels. These systems are produced by Haldex

Cool drones and slo mo shots, also just being canadian, great! Just drove four hours in the dark through a snowstorm home from a friends wedding, four people in the car (FWD 2018 Fiesta continental all season tires) autobahn was freezing over, visibility really bad - but I felt confident enough and arrived safely. So I really appreciate modern safety in cars especially in winter.

The MLB-based cars (Touareg, Amarok, old Passat, Phaeton) have a center-differential style 4Motion system, similar to MLB Audis with Quattro.
Although the Haldex System really is pretty much the same in the MQB-based cars like the Golf, Passat, Tiguan, A3, etc.
