Remember that painted pumpkins cannot be composted or fed to farm animals. They must go to a landfill (where they create methane from anaerobic decomposition) or an incinerator. I suppose you could peel off the pumpkin skin in the area where painted and then compost the rest.

I wouldn’t recommend painting your pumpkin because it usually rots faster due to it not being cut open
