We discussed Howard Zinn's book A People's History of the United States and his strategies such as, misrepresenting sources, omitting critical information, manipulating evidence and plagiarizing, that he used to create a very biased history of America. We discussed how this book has been integral to today's woke culture and the younger generation's acceptance of socialism and communism.

I"m listening to this as I go, so forgive me if I haven't heard something yet. And while I can agree with what Dr Mary is pinpointing, that there were undocumented sources, lack of context, and manipulations to what Zinn wrote, but how is his writings different from what is in school books and traditional education has generated in history? Are the stories of the Mayflower, Plymouth Rock, Columbus, Cherry Tree, Civil War heroism, the Great Plains, Thanksgiving, etc all greatly reverse exaggerated, under-contexted, and depicted in a manner that only covers a romanticized and heroic exercise of history? Perhaps Zinn hyperbolically ridiculed this Euro-centric history, but does it balance out how 1 sided history was been written for most of the "Western" to be inodated?

Never heard of Zinn. Though I am too old to have been directly indoctrinated by his book, I am not too old to have been influenced by those who came before him
Sadly, I see that some may have fallen victim....

Lol Zinn focused on class and economics primarily. This lady has made a career buttressing established myths by attacking one man with no power. Not to mention uncompelling

Dr. Grabar: "Zinn states Columbus was coming ashore and being greeted by the Arawaks, which is what he called THESE INDIANS, which is not quite accurate". That's very ironic...so he mis categorized the INDIANS as Arawaks...
