SVS Prime Bookshelf Speakers

These deserve the top spot for use in a surround sound system. Their flat response, vocal clarity, detail, precise imaging, lack of distortion and ability to play loud makes them perfect for a home theater setup. Pair these with an SVS sub and call it a day! Did I mention these look great and are built extremely well.

For two channel listening without a sub, there are other speakers I would recommend over these mostly because they can play lower without having to use a subwoofer. These still rank high by themselves. Paired with a good sub, these are tough to beat even compared to some of the other speakers paired with the same sub.

I use these as surrounds and they do a fantastic job with home theatre. I also have a pair in a 2-channel music listening room. Also, a great choice!
No complaints. Very happy.

Superior is the word that comes to mind when I hear your reviews, man. And I might add, that you are damn articulate and a pleasure to hear speak about your craft. Good job. Your powered bookshelf reviews (other review, I know) especially interest me because I recently bought a Klipsch pair (R15-PM) with a powered sub (R-10SW) and am loving them. I've longed to hear a credible reviewer such as yourself share any opinions about Klipsch, or especially these speakers or similar from their line. I have these and the KEF Q350’s and it comes down really to personal preference. The Kefs are warm sounding, very refined and balanced with a bit more clarity. The primes are louder with a lot more energy still maintaining good clarity even at high volume. I’ve demoed these a lot to friends and it’s 50/50 on which speaker they like.

Thanks for the review. I own the Ultra Bookshelf Speakers along with a SB1000 Sub for my small room (11x12) and I am very happy with this purchase. They were auditioned vs. the LS50s and it wasn’t close- I kept the SVSs and haven’t looked back.

Really good, especially the separation for speakers in this price range.

The Elac floorstanding UF5 are less than $1000. Best speakers I've ever owned or heard. Glad I went with them over the Prime Towers.

Any plan to review the Ultra bookshelf? I have them and they have pretty good bass but I run a big sub as well, the Rythmik G25HP. I power my ultras with a pair of bridged Crown XLS1502 amps. That’s 1050 watts into 8 ohms and the ultras can take it. Ever considered reviewing pro audio gear for home use? These crown amps are awesome and sound good.

I just looked at your online leaderboard for the first time and you say the BS22-LR would be best even under $200. I also see you rank the UB5 as best all time. Considering that I think it would be interesting to get your take on the $180 Debut B4s for the following reasons. They were released without much fanfare a couple years ago after the B5 and B6 and didn't receive much love or attention even though what few reviews they did receive generally rated them solidly higher than the BS22-LR. Another reason I think it would be an interesting review for you is because when they were released Andrew Jones supposedly demo'd them alongside the UB5 in a sort of cheeky A/B comparison.

I think their main shortcoming is their awkward price point. Not many people would probably recommend a full-priced $180 B4 over a much cheaper BS22 or a slightly higher priced B5/B6 but I just picked up a pair at $125 and I have a feeling I'm not going to be disappointed at all for that price. Anyway just food for thought. I love your channel please keep it up.
