The Philippines is historically an ally of the west. Whether the Philippines tries to stay neutral there is always a distrust by the mainland China. It is better for the Philippines to be in a position where it limits and it mitigates the loss of many lives. The Philippines should prepare a contingency plan as they have aligned with the QUAD. That is the best thing that the Philippines will be needing is the protection of the Quad. For the main target is Taiwan, but the spill out of the war will still be felt in the Philippines both economically and militarily.
