The NYPD has arrested a man in Thursday's sword attack outside a Manhattan subway station.

If you’re willing to pay a little more the M.T.A has other alternatives to the subway like the commuter rail (Metro North, Lirr) and the Express bus (Qm, Bm, Bxm, SIM, X) routes. The Metro North, Lirr and several express routes operate outside rush hours, the Lirr and express route SIM1c route operates 24/7 just like the subway! They’re a little more expensive than the subway/local bus but cost less than owning and driving a car/truck and an Uber/Lyft covering the same distance from certain areas of the city to Manhattan or intra borough travel. The EXPRESS bus fare is $6.75 for travel to and from Manhattan, both of the commuter rails offer a $5 “city ticket” for off peak travel within city limits. The Lirr offers a “$4 off peak fare for travel within Zone 3” and Metro North  offers a “$3 intermediate fare for travel within the Bronx. In fact the commuter rail and express bus routes often overlap some of the same service areas that are served by the subway (Bay Ridge, Canarsie, Ozone Park, Fordham, WoodLawn, Jamaica, Riverdale, Forrest hills, Far Rockaway e.t.c) and can provide an arguably safer, faster (albeit more likely via Commuter rail than an Express bus) and more comfortable trip than on the subway, it also covers areas that the subway DOESN’T serve well or at all like (Staten Island, East Bronx/Yonkers, Southeast Queens e.t.c.)
