No. India backed off that Programme because Russia refused to transfer the Tech.
But now They will provide everything...

I think if India backed, there must be solid reasons. But if not then India should not compromise with its firepower for pride and should go with su-57.

India was not wrong
India was investing half of development cost($6 billion) but russia was only offering only 15% of transfer of technology so India pulled back

India's main concern was radar, 4th gen engine, radar signature.... limit access to sensors and other electronics equipment....

Su-57 is the single seat jet. India needs Double Seat Fighter Jets Aircrafts. Russia don't want to gives Full 100℅TOT to India. They only give License production of the jets like SU-30MKI.. 😢😮

India backed out of the deal in 2018, su-57 was still in developing phase, I think india should re assess this aircraft and if there are no concerns then india should consider it

It is not a good deal we should focus on developing our own Technologies, We have seen this in past that they talk big about transfer of Technology and quick delivery of aircraft but in the end we have to go through many problems the very fact that S400 is still being delivered even after 6 years if we develop our own Technology like amca project it will highly benefit India not only for development of fifth generation but also for further higher generation fighter aircrafts

Bro but F35 purchase karna which cost double the price of SU57 & even high in maintainance & with lots of controversial statements of kill switch controlled by US, so i think F35 is not the right choice .
SU 57 is best choice i guess.

For the security and safety of the country the defence forces are of supreme importance and for that purpose there must not be any sort of egoistic approach !😮

It's not the time to satisfy our ego... it's high time that we procure and produce this jets seeing that pak already has 5 th gen fighters and China is working on 6 th gen 😊

India not only in 2018 but even today can create it's own fighter jets but every exploration needs some ample time & resources... But due multiple pressure from inside & outside for airforce UPGRADTIONS... Indian government is planing to go for 5th generation fighter jets.

Reason for backing off was lack of transparent structure of that time. Not the capability, yes engine is still under development which can make this a real 5 gen craft

Russia made a mistake earlier by offering less tech transfer. abhi tak full tech transfer ho jata aur Russia ko bhi naye planes bhi mil jate.

Engine ki technology ke bina baat nahi ban payegi.
Bharat ka Tejas bhi tab tak apna nahi hai jab tak engine apna nahi hota.
Bharat ke leaders pata nahi kahan so rahe hain,

Two concerns were - 1. Lack of stealth and 2. Lack of ToT. If any breakthrough in both, so it won’t be bad deal. However, nothing in this aircraft is that Indian industry don’t have it. From radar to stealth features, AMCA competes with any other 5 gen aircraft.

Transfer of technology is the difference

Back then Russia wanted india to bear R&D cost of $6Bn wid limited Transfer of Technology. Hence India backed out. Also in current stage Su-57 is not a truly stealth aircraft. Had they really achieved stealth Russia wud have gone in full scale production and not kept it limited to one squadron.

🇮🇳🇮🇳 govt backed off bcox they were not willing to transfer critical technologies and new ones while non important technology was shared with 🇮🇳 that time... Its not that the assessment is wrong of govt.. Situation was different today situation is favourable
