Introducing a groundbreaking achievement in
aerospace technology! * National
Aerospace Laboratories (NAL) in Bengaluru
has successfully flown a prototype ofa
cutting-edge unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).
This next-gen UAV operates at incredible
heights, up to 20 km above ground, solely
powered by solar energy, and can stay
airborne for months on end. Known as
High-Altitude Pseudo-Satellite (HAPS) or
High-Altitude Long-Endurance (HALE) vehicle,
its applications range from surveillance and
monitoring to disaster management. The
recent test flight lasted an impressive 8.5
hours, with plans to extend to a full 24 hours
next month. NAL aims to develop a full-scale
version capable of remaining airborne for an
astounding 90 days by 2027. HAPS offer
unparalleled flexibility, acting like
geostationary satellites but with the ability to
be redeployed or equipped with different
payloads, making them invaluable assets in
various scenarios. Stay tuned for the future of
aerial technology! #NAL #UAV #HAPS #HALE
