Love the fuel tale. Reminds me of a mate who used 5000lbs more ⛽️ than the rest of us on a Red Flag mission. And he never left the formation! 😂

When did the safety-only rule for afterburners come in? Burners give 2x the thrust for TEN TIMES the fuel, btw.

Its reason for being was to go into East Germany etc. at tree top level around 1000knots and lob a certain freefall weapon.

24:20 shame you didn't remind him he hadn't answered the question on whether the US assigned them to be low level, versus it being their own choice
