Waterfall is a valid strategy, never fails tbh, i see too many people asking me what to do and I recommend waterfall, then they just release the whole project and do not receive what they could have by drip feeding ;-;

waterfall method is okay but keep in mind if you are releasing in a + timezone, spotify will say that your new music has been released before it has (the single art and "new release" will come up) when people click on the new release they will only see the already released songs in the waterfall until the new song is out in their timezone! Had this happen to me on my previous release and found it very annoying, almost a big enough reason to not go ahead with the waterfall strategy.

The reality is that the music industry is doing much worse lately. With Spotify giving us these fake tools like Discovery Mode (their algorythm became much worse since they implemented that, so that we are technically forced to use it and give them 30% from our royalties), things keep goind downhill.
It's getting hard for us to release music. For me personally, It's even hard to reach my own audience. My LP will wait for better times to be released.

There is a major problem with stacking up the tracks with every release.

Spotify categorizes 1-3 tracks as a single, 4-6 tracks as an EP, and 7+ tracks will be an album.
If you want to do this strategy with 7 tracks you'll drop an album, if you want to add another track next week, you're dropping another album. If you do this for a 12 track project in total this means you've just dropped 5 albums in a row, and each time only 1 track is different.

I'd suggest the strategy of just doing separate singles and then bringing it together in your EP or album. :)

so my question would be, why can't you use the same artwork? if it's going to be a singular album anyways once they're all under that umbrella, why do they need separate artwork? won't the new track just show up in your listeners release radar and discovery which is the most important thing anyways?
