New Bills Featuring King Charles III Rolling off Presses

As the UK prepares for the coronation of King Charles III, the Bank of England is printing new notes to go into rotation. Soon, citizens and visitors to the UK will use both the money that features the late Queen Elizabeth II as well as money that shows the reigning monarch, her son Charles. The 10-pound polymer note is the first to bear the image of King Charles III, before the £5, £20 and £50 bills are changed.

We don't call them bills in the UK because "the bill" means what Americans call "the check". Although "check" is spelt (or spelled) "cheque" in the UK. (Of course "the Bill" is also slang for the police in the London area).

I'm not a Brit, but I can remember reading about Queen Elizabeth's coronation in the newspaper. I liked her very much, and Charles has a lot to live up to. I hope he can, but his treatment of Princess Diana makes me wonder how he is going to do.
