I work for said office and I get a bunch of “grown ups” that come in and say “I ain’t lose it, my mama just won’t give it to me”. I in turn say “💅🏾after all these years it ain’t lost though, you will get your replacement in 2 weeks”. The follow up question usually is “ Aye I can order my birth certificate here too.” 🤦🏾‍♀️🗣AT THE END OF THE DAY, MAMAS GONE MAMA 🤷🏽‍♀️

Momma took me to the Social Security Administration to apply for my own card and to the health department to get my own copy of my birth certificate. She still had the originals when she passed. I now have those too. She did not play about her paperwork.

I felt this with my WHOLE heart because as soon as I got married and changed my name and got a new card….😬😬I lost it. Should’ve gave it to my Mama.😬

Yep you know it! My daughter needed her card in college to get her passport and I gave her a sealed legal sized envelope that had the original card inside the original mailing envelope with the postmark on it and told her she bet not lose it, bend it, separate the perforated portions or get fingerprints on it! 🤣🤣🤣. Told her I didn't care if the government need the original... I bet ta get it right back" she said the passport office worker was laughing at her but she said no... I'm dead serious I need that back asap or my momma gonna kill me! 😭 like girl why you tell a government worker that!?🤣

Mom said "why you need it?" I said "nevermind." and ordered a new copy for myself, along with a copy of my birth certificate. There comes a time when you just pick your battles...and I didn't want to on that subject.

I had my SSC and BC since I was 16 when I went for my learner's.

But, my mother still has my brother's who is married, with three kids and in his 40's.
She said she know he'll lose it.

My mother MADE me memorize my number when I was 13. She got sick of having to tell me over and over and over XD But I don't think I'd ever saw my actual card til I was like 20 XD

My momma gave me my card when I started paying bills. Let these young folks be responsible and have their cards. If they lose the card, let them be GROWN and go through the process of getting another one
