I can relate to this but I fully understand my parent's perspective. Having a cheap one as long as it's not broken and does its job correctly is a much better option than having an expensive one

I had a membrane keyboard for years and didn't see what the big deal was. I got a mechanical keyboard and it's pretty good. But then I went to use the family PC which has some cheap Dell keyboard that came with it. Holy fuck is it disgusting, it just feels horrible pressing the keys

“Mom can I get keyboard?”
Ask for a model
“Can I get a custom keyboard with glorious starter kit, green switches, and hyperx pudding keycaps?”
Ask as a bday or Christmas gift will increase chance or get good grades

From the parents perspective it's REALLY expensive and serves the same purpose as the one they have, from the kid's perspective it serves its purpose more thouroughly for what they do, but be a little more considerate, I mean come on.
