Best Team for Sun and Moon: Incineroar Edition

So it’s finally time to wrap the Sun and Moon Alternative Starter series with the roided up Tom the Cat itself, Incineroar. I’ve definitely come to enjoy Alola a lot more over the years but it’s going to feel really good to finally finish off our first set of Alolan adventures. Of course we’ll have two more to do with the Ultra games, but we’ll get to those soon enough. I’m hoping you all will like this team. It’s going to feel a bit familiar but with a few surprises here and there. As always though, before we hop into the team let me go over what a best team is and how I determine that for all of you that are new to the series.

5:38 There's a minor mistake I found, not sure if it was, but Shadow Ball on Jolteon should be good against Hau's Decidueye, but Incineroar can handle it better.

I'm surprised how few people talk about the Island Scan feature when building in-game teams. It greatly increases your options for teambuilding, such as Honedge, Marill, Swinub, Roselia, and Staravia. US/UM have an even better selection, which led to me running a team of Incineroar, Venusaur, Swampert, Vikavolt, Hawlucha, and Metagross, but there's a lot of good Pokemon in Alola by default.

I played Ultra Sun with incineroar, vaporeon, alolan raichu, mudsdale, midday lycanroc and lurantis. These guys were really nice!

1. At the point you get eevee, you can get many other electric types like magnamite, grubbin, and pikachu on melemele island and WAY earlier than waiting for the eevee egg. All of which get dual STAB. Even then yoy will have to level it up from level 1 and then find the thunderstone on route 8. Jolteon is by no means a bad option, but there are far better options available even earlier.

2. Yes, starmie is VERY good water pokemon with a great movepool. Although slowpoke is available earlier, has the same type, and doesn't require a water stone. It is still very slow. Really you can choose either one although starmie is objectively better. But slowpoke will be able to help you earlier and slowbro is not bad.

Using Lurantis over Tsareena is just dumb. I have tried both: Lurantis is pretty weak, while Tsareena is a powerhouse.

Just finished my sun playthrough and I used Incineroar, Toucannon, Alolan Raichu, Lycanroc, Alolan Ninetales & Ash Greninja, kinda frail team but still quite enjoyable

I don't use status moves because... for what?! You're playing against NPCs not competitive players. I usually playthrough with dual typed Pokémon who counter the other team members typings so I don't have many weakness, if any.

I was surprised that this team was pretty balanced for the long run and all 6 can be found on MeleMele, the first island. I guess the expanded Pokédex in Sun and Moon is pretty underrated since there are a lot of strong Pokémon that can be found at reasonable times.

Should have put leech life on incineroar. I always do. Great counter for flare blitz recoil when it holds a big root.
