I won a 100 Year Old Car at Auction - Will it Run and Drive?

I am tired of messing with 1980's JUNK! It is over complicated, therefore we are going to buy something very different. A 1927 Chrysler sedan that was for sale at a local auction. This beautiful ride is a time capsule as it is in very good shape for its age. Today, Dad and I will try to get it running and hopefully figure out how it operates....

Cool find and looks like the previous owner took good care of it.

Positive ground creates better spark to the spark plugs. Just a simple way of explaining it without getting too technical lol

All cars were positive ground till 1955. Please do not hack this car up, as it is a rare and valuable historic vehicle in it's original and complete condition! Many times I have seen people change these cars because they thought it would be cool, only to regret it later after it's to late! It's kind of like getting a tattoo. When you get older and wiser, you sometimes wish you hadn't got it because your tastes have changed. It will never drive fast and handle like newer cars no matter what you try to do or change on it because that's how it was designed! It is probably not going to ever be your main driver car anyway. Just remember to think carefully while you still can with this car.

I have a 1926 Chrysler Roadster with rumble seat.

You have a great find there. Very rare to find such a complete car. I can’t believe the old gal ran that great.

I hope you don’t modernize such a complete original car. Fords are a dime a dozen, but Chryslers of this vintage are rare. Keep it original.

Just to tell you a few things you didn’t know what they were. You are correct, gas can be controlled on steering wheel or pedal on floorboard. Other solid on floorboard is just a footrest for gas pedal.

On the firewall, drivers side is brake pump to prime hydraulic brakes. Towards center of firewall ( large canister) is oil filter. On passenger side firewall is vacuum fuel canister that holds gasoline. Vacuum pulled fuel from tank to this fuel canister and then gravity from that fuel canister to updraft carburetor.

4:10 "Got some decent wood ... you wanna hop in the back and see how big it is?" haha. Nice score Devon! Also at 6:13 note says "camera girl needs some work"-- Oh, she knew what she was focusing on 🙂

The canister on the firewall connected to the fuel tank, carb and intake manifold is the vacuum fuel pump. It draws fuel from the tank and feeds the carb. They work very well, those carbs are not designed for a real fuel pump. The needle and seat are designed for gravity feed pressure only.
