Intel NUC 13 Pro Review

Показать описание
The Intel NUC 13 Pro (Arena Canyon) is Intel’s smallest tiny PC for 2023. It’s small enough to fit in a roomy pocket, yet it packs as much horsepower than a conventional 14” laptop while offering many more ports. The NUC (which stands for Next Unit of Computing) will be available bare bones or with RAM, SSD and OS pre-installed. It has an Intel Core i7-1360P 28 watt processor with Iris Xe graphics, 2 RAM slots, 2 M.2 slots, WiFi 6E, Thunderbolt 4, 2 HDMI 2.1 ports, 2.5Gb Ethernet and USB-A. It’s VESA mount compatible, so you can mount it behind a monitor.

Just bought this for a great price in Germany to replace my aging laptop used to work from home. As I have almost never used the screen, made no sense to get another laptop.
This has more than enough power to my use and it is so small that I can take with me as backup instead of my heavy laptop.
I didn't understand why was this so cheap (411 Euros), for what I remember Intel NUCs were so expensive in the past!

your comment about why a 120 W power brick got me to thinking.
back of the napkin power budget:
2 x TB4 at max Power Delivery = 30 W
i7-1360P @ turbo = 65 W
Gen4 SSD = 3-4 W
4 x USB Type A at max power = 20 W

Yeah, that little box can use the power.

The NUC has one particular positive for me, and admittedly it might be a bit niche. My workflow requires I use a Mac, so I have a Mac Mini Pro; my wife however, pathologically hates MacOS and prefers windows, so she has a i7 NUC. So on our desk we have both machines and dual monitors, thunderbolts go to the Mac, HDMI's to the NUC. Just pop the required wireless keyboard and mouse out of the desk drawer, plus the power button on whichever machine you need, and away you go. Two tiny computers and a tidy workspace. Works for us!

Still blows my mind how small PCs have become. I started on a Tandy PC back in the early 90s with HDDs that were 4x bigger and 10x heavier than this thing.

I love these little things. We don't have an IT person at our location so we send everything to corporate for repairs. These are easy to tear down and ship. Super convenient.

ooo thanks for another great review, Lisa! I was waiting for the next NUC to come out, but it somehow slipped under my radar, so I'm glad your review was suggested as usual ^_^

Pretty much every factory floor computer I've seen recently has a Nuc.. it's basically just enough computing to be a terminal and to handle some runlog and tool interface functionality. Great for when you just need to have a computer station!

Everything is great about the NUC except for the fan noise. It's nearly on all the time. The fan frequently ramps up even when opening folders during very light load.

4:44 What is that port right next to the B key SATA slot It's tan which looks like a black cap inside of it? Does anybody know?

Nice video. Very helpful. Could you recommend a drive to put in the B-Key SATA slot? I can't seem to find anything on Amazon. Thanks for the video.

One thing I love about the Intel NUCs are the easy access to the RAM & SSD. Such a clean and fast setup. The only other competitor is the Beelink brand for easy and clean spec access. Miniforum UM690 is nice for gaming at home, but I wouldn't want to use it for small business with over 10+ employees. Too slopy with sticky corners.

Are there two radio bands on this unit? I don't think I heard anything on this... probably blinked. Thanks

Love the ports. Is there a good second market for these types of NUCs in 18 to 24 months?

NUC i7-1360P vs i7-1260P - what's better? Or is there no significant difference?

So if it has two M.2 slots, I can put a smaller card in for the OS, and the other larger slot for the main storage?

I love the form factor only wish I could find one for gaming that doesn't cost an arm and leg

They had SD card connector on a side, so I liked the previous generation more.
