It's so strange that my home city was given it's first proper anthem by a little Canadian band I discovered when I got shitfaced and listened to sea-shanties.

Are we all going to ignore the story told in this song? Many soldiers during the great war were tried & executed for desertion due to refusing orders to charge due to shellshock, the lyrics "Just deliver me a little song
And a final taste of rum And tell the buggers who shoot me down Just where ol' Jimmy's from" were his last requests before facing the firing squad. Overall, at least 306 Commonwealth soldier were executed for desertion during WW1, without a doubt most of these men were suffering some sort of PTSD. This comment is a bit late to the party, but thank you fine sons of bitches for making such wonderful music, I was legitimately crying before the album ended.

By far one of the best bands I've ever heard. They have captured a magical sound and they always deliver.

Excellent musicians, song writers and true champion's for folK, Shanty, polka, trad and so many other music styles all wrapped up in punk rock excellence.

Much love and Respect to all Canadian people from Ireland. Dreadnoughts for life.

Been listening to your music ever since “Polka’s not dead” came out and I gotta say: you definitely are my favorite band of all times and you’ve got a lot more personality than any other folk-punk band that I’ve listened to in the past.

As much as I love the other albums by you guys, this one is the most BEAUTIFUL album you guys have crafted- tells real serious tales under the upbeat folk-punk melodies, and the subject matter was handled very well for the format you were working with. Still come back to listen to this song in particular on the weekly

In short, good job lol

Lyrics:

Bless me father I have sinned
Bless me if you may
By the power of Jesus Christ
I came to you this day

I am just a middle farmer's boy
Jim wilson is my name
And I've been out hard where devil runs
I'll never go again

Well yes I know my duty sir
And I know the God I serve
I tried to stay out in the open line
I tried to keep my nerve

Ah, but all I could see were lily white arms
And a gold and silken dress
And all I could hear was a good ol' song
And a calling from the west

Well I wish I was back home in Bristol again
Raising a cider with West Countrymen
Rolling in the arms of the the fair Kitty Wrenne
Back home in Bristol again
Back home in Bristol again

Seventeen days and seventeen nights
We held up underground
Through misty panes and thick green light
I saw death raining down

And when it all was finished
I just turned away in fear
Bless me father and and hold my hand
Until the dawn is here

Well I wish I was back home in Bristol again
Raising a cider with West Countrymen
Rolling in the arms of the the fair Kitty Wrenne
Back home in Bristol again
Back home in Bristol again

I hear the party coming down
To wrest me from my cell
Oh father don't you preach to me
Or speak to me of hell

Just deliver me a little song
And a final taste of rum
And tell the buggers who shoot me down
Just where ol' Jimmy's from

Well I wish I was back home in Bristol again
Raising a cider with West Countrymen
Rolling in the arms of the the fair Kitty Wrenne
Back home in Bristol again
Back home in Bristol again

I just discovered that song. It's as good as your old classics from the 3 first albums!
- A fan from the mighty Saguenay who misses 2010 and the BUNKER so much!
