This scene symbolises the hero isn’t exactly the one laughing and romancing in the end . He can be the one running, hiding, and yet the hero nonetheless. Batman stands for courage in all of us to be heroes, not always achievers! Because we have to chase him, because he can take it !! Wow, Nolan .. wow !!

Everyone talks about Ledger's and Bails performance in the trilogy, but Gary Oldman's performance is so criminally underrated, it's insane. His reactions to Batman's heroism add a whole new dimension to the ending. The look on his face when Batman says "Call it In" at 1:56 says it all. Heartbreaking defeat and profound revelation in one facial expression.

Damn Nolan nailed batman. Everything about this scene screams BATMAN. Everything that batman stands for. He's a true hero who cares more for the people and their hope than his image... His sacrifice... Agghhg it's so awesome this movie exists.
