Flutter Tutorial | Restaurant Search App with Zomato API (Part 1: Querying the Public API)

In this series we will build a restaurant search app with the Zomato API and Flutter. We will learn about Flutter widgets and how to make HTTP API calls. We will introduce the flutter_dotenv package for handling our API credentials. We will improve our solution in the following series and introduce some state management patterns.

This is really basic I am sure, but when you're setting up the validator around the 6:00 mark, I can't seem to use value.isEmpty, as Flutter states The property 'isEmpty' can't be unconditionally accessed because the receiver can be 'null'. Yet, if I replace the statement with value == null, I never see the 'Please enter a search term' message. Does anyone have a suggestion to circumvent this? Great video!

Do a flutter build web. Then deploy the app somewhere. Then open the app in Android, on any browser. Try to do your search 3-4 times. Boom, it does not work.
