Hi! Native Irish speaker from an Irish speaking part of Ireland here! When we talk about the Irish language you can either call it simply 'Irish' or 'Gaeilge' (gay-il-ga/gway-il-ga). Gaelic actually is not a language :) So cool that you're reading up on Celtic magic though!

You're so right about some books not coming around at the right time. I DNFed Gideon the Ninth the first time I read it years ago but picked it up last September and I am obsessed. Definitely appreciated the distance

Same with putting books down and revisiting them later. I did that with six of crows. Put it down after 50 pages and a year later tried it again and loved it!
Excited to hear your review of wild magic. It's actually the next witchcraft book i plan to pick up!

Ooh I've been waiting for your thoughts on Midnight Lie! I was worried it would be the same kind of let-down spin off as Dance of Thieves was for Remnant Chronicles. And I DNFed Witches Steeped in gold too, mostly because of the similar povs.

oh, I am intrigued by the midnight lie😮 I like the cover very much plus it’s not too long so it’s not overwhelming Hahaha

YES, I’ve loved what I’ve read from Jemisin so far but I’m really over NYC as being an aggressively prominent part of a book 😂 in fairness, I feel exactly the same about LA!

I really want to reread witches steeped in gold. It definitely went over my head the first time I read it

I read several books in January but my favorites were probably Nettle and Bone and Emily Wilde's Encyclopedia of Faeries. Highly recommend both.

I think how you feel about New York in books is how I feel about London in books 😂

I love Nevermoor so much! I think the second book might be my favourite book in the series so far, but I've loved and rated all of them 5 stars.

Need to finish reading the Foundryside books--loved the first one but haven't picked up the rest yet--so glad to hear the last one sticks the landing!

Also sidenote: do you listen to Kiki Rockwell? She just came out with a song called "From Persephone, " but all her songs are a bit witchy and spooky and fierce--I feel like you might dig her!

I don't remember if you ever read Heart of Iron by Ashley Poston but that one is kind of a magic/tech kind of story. It's YA. It's kind of like Anastasia meets Treasure Planet. I haven't gotten to read the second book yet but it's only a duology. I want to try to reread the first one and read the second one this year.

Nevermoor....I always forget I really want to try that one out...thanks for the reminder haha. The phrase "ethical nonmonagomy" hurts my brain. I am assuming it means consensual but maybe I will have to look more into it just to educate myself but it also sounds like you don't love that terminology either lol

I didn't do too bad in January: read 2, finished 4 I had started in 2022, I'm happy with that 😊

I reread some books in January and that was a really good decious. The Founders Trilogy is on my list to read this year, so I was so happy to see you enjoy the last book so much!

- Alone With You in the Ether by Olivie Blake (3.5-4 stars for me)
- Hunting Prince Dracula by Kerri Maniscalco (3 stars)
- The Cruel Prince by Holly Black (5 stars, reread)
- Demon in the Wood graphic novel by Leigh Bardugo (3 stars)
- The Wicked King by Holly Black (5 stars, reread)

Just realized almost everything I read in January was either the continuation of a series I was already reading (Lost in the Moment and Found, Dune Messiah, and recent X-men comics) or part of series I suddenly decided to start rereading (The In Death series by J.D. Robb/Nora Roberts)

And I read Witchmark, by C.L. Polk, which I liked and will probably read the rest of the series.

I'm intrigued by the Wild Magic book, but I currently have a 201 day streak on Duolingo for Irish and I still just mumble words in my head, so it might be too advanced for me.
