Tbh ai lawyers should exist simply so poor people have a way to defend their rights and check up on contracts to see if they are getting screwed over. It's absolutely abhorrent to live in a time, where the law still favors the rich and still talk like they are the paragons of justice

The AI that Lexis/Nexis was using prior to ChatGPT was based on statistical ML or RNN/LSTM models, not the Transformer model of ChaptGPT.

AI will end the era of Big Law law firms. We will return to smaller and solo practitioner firms as an experienced lawyers will be able to use AI to replace the benefits of being in a huge firm.

Still gonna replace lawyers ai is going to replace 40% of jobs in the near future, and lawyers aren’t exempted, infact 🤔 lawyers would be very much affected by this

Lawyers can be complemented by AI, but not entirely replaced. Artificial intelligence is a powerful tool for legal research, document review, contract analysis, and case outcome prediction, but it is not as good as human judgment, empathy, or sophisticated understanding in many legal contexts.

Actually, that's if chatgpt is exclusive to lawyers. Once law-specialized generative ai is available to the public, many of the tasks that lawyers do today can be done at home. Lawyers will be competing harder for clients, and that's how the replacement begins.

I disagree here, I think although "AI" to some degree has been around for years, it is exponentially increasing, and jobs which require data input/output, lawyers included are in fact at the most course not today, but in 5-10 years this will be a real problem.

So basically they made ai do their jobs and take all the credit.

One area people never expected to see so completely eviscerated by technology is IT itself. I run a small IT consulting firm. Due to the Internet alone, my world evolved from one of myself as Director of Information Technology with numerous subordinates at a single company, to myself, and a few subordinates at my consultancy supporting many companies. Between the Internet and the cloud, the IT department literally vanished and most small to medium companies recently. And more recently, due to AI, I have dramatically cut staff because myself and one person can use AI to provide the same level of service. Not to mention clients can leverage AI do deal with certain AI issues without needing an IT person at all.

You can expect this in the legal area as well. One day, Bob, the paralegal will be handling five attorneys rather than two, and George the Attorney will be wondering, whatever happened to the other six attorneys at this firm. Alice and Brenda will come to the conclusion that with various AI LlMs, they don’t need George’s slow old ass, or that expensive IT consultancy on speed dial anymore.

Get ready, y’all gonna get hit hard.

The lawyers in Mexico will be out of work, the thing is the general public did not have access to this . Yes not so fast but not fast enough! 😅

Lawyers are like cockroachs, the legal profession dates back to ancient Greece. The lawyers will still be around after the Great A.I. Robot wars, selling their services to the A.I. robots.

what happens when the professional class petite bourgeoise is finally threatened by technological progress? Will it hit them as hard as automation hit the factory worker? Frankly it's hard to find sympathy for the ones who ate like kings in their McMansions while the rest of us suffered under multiple recessions.

Actually its a problem as it can prepare legal drafts and give ideas to make drafts

And yes AI will increase their efficiency, and make the job easier, but that is not a good thing :-)

No I refuse to follow you. You happen to work in the industry where this guy is saying you will be replaced. Its like asking a car salesman if he could get replaced with Carvana Online Car sales...what do you think he is going to say?

Not possible for AI to replace COMPLETELY lawyers just because of dynamics of the argumentative skills and creativity of the for drafting and legal research will be more easier than previous phases of techs. will be more helpful for lawyers to reduce their work WORK IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR AI TO DO IN ANY FIELD ...THATS IT....

wow you were not able to actually answer the question because of your arrogance and too much make up. You have not been using this kind of AI „for a long time“ cause it has launched just recently . you used software like every other company but much of AI capabilities. you learnt law by studying cases and thats what the AI can do much better than humans.
