I was in the USN in 1972 and in England. My shipmates and I got into the wrong train car. We didn't notice that we were in first class without the proper tickets. The conductor took our tickets and saw we weren't supposed to be in first class. He stared at us and asked straight away if were French. When we told him we were American he paused and then said, "You can stay". God help us if we had been French! Evidently the Brits can keep a grudge. Great book. Will see the movie on Christmas day.
