Keco you're like the first one to tell people not to buy from resellers with those crazy prices. Such a great take that more people should listen and follow. That's why I am subscribed to you & notification on too!!!

I LOVE financially supporting businesses that produce things i love. Raise the price, go ahead, but also raise the quality, don’t play us like idiots because once i start to feel like I’m getting ripped off, I’m done.

Great video like always brother! Prices are going up and I'm okay with that if the quality goes up as well. It is definitely not the same as collecting GI Joe figures. Thank you so much for taking the time and the effort to put together this video and sharing your knowledge! As always I appreciate you!!

Great video! If we start to see 10-20% added on the already increasing costs then I'm out. I'll still probably pick up a few every year, but all 1/6 figures are getting too expensive, and there's way too much coming out. Is the great toy/collectible crash coming?

In my opinion with current prices none of this collectibles are worth those prices. Not Hot Toys, Inart, Jazzinc or Prime 1 Studios. At this point you just have to ask yourself what you are willing to pay to have the collectible you want in your room and not think about the resell value or rarity.

I’ve always loved Hot Toys, but with the recent price hikes, I’m done collecting. Mondo, in particular, has really pissed me off. They’re pumping out figures rapid-fire, dropping sneak peek photos with a “On Sale Tomorrow at Noon” notice. I’m a grown man running two businesses—I don’t have time for this FOMO nonsense. It’s frustrating when figures sell out in just a few hours.

And the prices? Totally unjustified, especially with ongoing quality control issues. I get that some IPs cost more, but Batman, Marvel, X-Men, and Spider-Man figures come with just as much—if not more—for less money. Hot Toys is pulling the same stunt. I used to think their prices were reasonable because the figures were near flawless, but even they’ve started showing minor QC issues.

Honestly, I’m thinking of selling off my collection this year. The constant reuse of figure bodies and re-releases feels like a cheap move, especially considering the aftermarket. A lot of people are leaving the 1/6 scale scene, and the market is getting oversaturated.

One thing that gets me is the rise in the number of 'deluxe' editions. If you want that extra headsculpt or diorama base you have to shell out even more money. These things should be part of the standard package.

I don’t know. I would say anything is worth it if it’s a figure you “need” to have. It’s easy to overpay for that piece you really want.
Pertaining to “rooted” hair and the Artisan line, I think it’s overrated. Half of the pictures I see of rooted sculpts the hair seem is painfully obvious or it’s covered in glue. I’d really love to see what these figures look like in 5 years. Not only do they cut corners and use cheap materials, you don’t even know if the glue used to hold your figures hair in will last that long. Not going to say it’s overpriced, because let’s face it, all of these figures are overpriced. If someone who didn’t know about this hobby knew we spent on average $300 on what most would consider a hyper realistic doll, they’d think you’re crazy. But as you said, it makes us happy, so that’s an easy way to justify it.

Let me say, I have made my first cancellation and about to make more as feeling the crunch. I hardly ever cancel but now having to change even tough I desire what I am canceling. It sucks but times are gonna get rough.

I have been collecting HT for 5 years and I am cutting back 80% or so and selling off the collection. HT quality is hit or miss and figures are $400 plus all together. I am leaning to statues now. I've also noticed how terrible the resell market for HT. Practically nothing in the Star Wars line is worth more than the retail price.

The best thing to do is, keep looking forward. If you missed out on a certain figure don't look back there will always be another one.

The advice to let resellers hold inventory is spot on. If you don't buy what they are selling they must lower their prices...or move on to other products.

*** Some will get upset and yell at me for the following:

Make no mistake, reselling is a very difficult job. The research, planning, inventory cost, listing and dealing with customer service is no picnic. As collectors, we are quick to call them scum or assume they are making bank charging more than retail. Truth is, most aren't making much and put in a lot of work.

Heck, just selling a few items to trim a collection can be a huge headache. Most of us have sold off a few things...scale that up and think for a minute what it must be like to eek out a living that. It must suck.

Do you think it’s worth the hassle of installing the grenades in Artisan Joker coat?

For this reason, I'm happy I'm not sold on having to have rooted for every offer. If both sculpted and rooted are offered, I usually think the sculpted looks better anyway. Not always, but more often than not

I had to cancel several HT's over last year. Prices are going up and we're still getting pleather, breaking ankles, shit hoods.... did I mention pleather?
I really think that hobbies like HT's collecting suffer from people will no self control and spending issues. Not to mention collector's ego. Everyone acts so entitled like they are owned these things for some reason. It's like everyone acts like Justin's Collection and needs to own every figure that comes out for some reason.

Hot Toys figures are up to $600 each now but a grinch costume, a crowbar and a big bag would still be like $40!

I dont know if Hot Toys are still worth it, but that flower shirt was worth every penny my friend...

I only have a total of 7 Hot Toys figures in my collection since 2021 i bought my very first Captain Marvel figure. While i like Hot Toys for their detail I am not that hardcore due to space, costs and that fear of feeling guilty if i but too much.

What i can say is always buy with prudence and be really really sure before you buy.
