Andrea Radrizzani (Leeds Owner) Exclusive Interview - 'Bielsa Needs To Relax, Stress Less'

As the owner of Leeds United, Andrea Radrizzani is one of the few people who can challenge Marcelo Bielsa and be blunt with his enigmatic manager.

“All the time," Radrizzani told said Wednesday, “I remind him to try to relax a little bit more.”

That cannot be easy for a coach renowned as much for his volatility and demanding nature as the coaching genius that has just returned Leeds to the Premier League after 16 years of exile in lower divisions.

“He is very meticulous, but I always try to advise him to relax because he brings a lot of stress in his daily life and I think stress is never positive,” Radrizzani said in an interview in Lisbon.

In his second season in charge of Leeds, the Argentine gained promotion to the world's richest football league as Championship winners before his contract expired last month.

As Leeds discovered on Thursday, they will open the Premier League against champions Liverpool on the weekend of September 12-13.

Radrizzani doesn't think he is about to lose his manager, but there will not be a long-term contract.

"We like to take it one year at a time,” Radrizzani said. “He is 65 years old, he is from Argentina, he is far away. His wife is often in Argentina, his family too. So we like to take it like this, one year at a time and continue this way. And so far it’s working well.”

Bielsa was an amazing appointment for Leeds. And fans welcomed Bielsa from the beginning - that also is very important for club success.

Top man Mr. Radrizzani. The good days will return to Elland Road with this guy and Bielsa in charge. "Marching On Together".

This man (Radrizzani) is a good leader AND manager! Without him, the resurgence of Leeds would not be happening. The change, if i it is ever to be sustained has to come from the top down. Too many clubs can have short term success, with good managers and players. Without the right owner and management (and those being in sync with payers and staff) it doesn’t last! Marcelo Bielsa is an important key at this moment. Mr. Radrizzani, like the top owner/business man he is, realised that no ONE thing will maintain success. All parts need to fit and move together.
I thank you Sir for the fantastic job you have done and are doing!

Both men have brought some magic back into the club. You can sense the growing swagger about the club. We now need to quietly build on these foundations. We will need to learn patience meanwhile let's enjoy the style of football we are now playing

I hope Bielsa could experience the Premier league games in full stadiums with fans. He deserves that. He shows so much passion for the game.

This man is why we are back, yes Bielsa, Orta and the players are Mega important BUT nothing would have happened if it wasn't for him.

We all know Bielsa is not getting any younger and it was interesting to hear that the club is already looking to the medium/long term situation regarding a head coach. It was also interesting that Radrizziani said they would be looking for somebody to build on the legacy of Bielsa in terms of style of play and development of players once Bielsa leaves. Again it was interesting that Bielsa is only interested in taking it one year at a time. What I also find interesting is that one of Bielsa's prodigies keeps ignoring big job opportunities that have recently come up. I wonder if he is just biding his time with the huge payoff he received to take over when Bielsa leaves. The man Mauricio Pochettino acknowledges that he uses all he learnt from Bielsa in his coaching and that he still has a close association with him maybe just maybe the club already have Bielsa successor in mind.

Apparently Eddie Howe was/is on the shortlist if Marcello was going to go home. Personally I would like him in now Coaching the Under 23 team and looking towards the future.

Great job with Bielsa. Now bring a KILLER striker! Bamford isn't for this level, we need a PSYCHOPATHIC KILLER if we want to have hopes in not going down to the Championship again.

have 2 admit I can't believe you guys are being done for celebrating winning the league its not good at all if you can't celebrate winning the league or promotion. The EFL take the piss and this is coming from a Derby fan.

Bielsa wants to go year by year. Why is he saying WE! ??? This why Bielsa makes sure Rad keeps his promises! If not he leaves.

I don't know why, but I noticed Radrizzani a little bit more arrogant or at least trying to show his power to bielsa. Giving him advises to relax (advise your wife!!), telling the reporter he is one of the few not afraid of talking directly to Bielsa (so what?), and also highlighting that Bielsa is not above the Club, when he even never put himself above anybody or the club. Also at the beginning Rad mentioned that he doesn't want to get in the middle of bielsa's job, and that he also expects Bielsa to stay away from his stuff, well your stuff is then to spend the money to buy 3-4 key players, because bielsa is not going to do magic just because your name is Radrizzani!! Bielsa is doing his part very well. And please don't even try to talk about serious football with bielsa, he is nice but remember you are far away to be able to discuss any player with him. You have money, and "power" but Dont piss him off. Please remember Bielsa has more power than you, because he doesnt care about money! and you do!

Remember he is an investor ( =gambling) not a genius on this field, he talks like an expert but he just have money... and at this moment is the momento to use it ...since I’m not sure he is aware but the trainings already started and the players 3-4 quality players didn’t arrived. What is he waiting for? Leeds it is business for him, so he needs to invest now, NOW... to be able to play ( not talking of surviving) in the premier league! And make his money grows!!

Dear Mr. Radrizzani. I remember hearing such things from Ben Cakes, or whatever he was called. Are you Leeds or are you going to drop us like a hot potatoe if we get shit?

This guys just pays the bills and now is suddenly a genius that now should be assigned part of Bielsa' s success? Another Guido leaching off others people's skills.

Bielsa is likely to implode with Prem League stress levels. That's what he's basically saying and he is already looking for a replacement... Thank me later.
