Is the V belt and the timing belt, the same, my car's V belt snapped but the car could still start but it showed the car not charging

Hello Willem, what brand was the tensioner that failed? I bought a WAG one, but now I think I should perhaps just leave the original.... Thanks

Which country is this if I may ask because I am in south Africa, I have been checking for this steel tensioner at VW and goldwagen but no luck

Update 10/04/2022 well it looks like the bearing is getting noisy in the tensioner pulley .The question is can the wheel itself be changed or do you have to replace the whole tensioner arm?

Thankyou so much for posting this, had my belt shred to smitherines today and luckily only looks like the tensioner was damaged besides the belt. Big help

Argh, the tensioner pulley, the demise of many an amarok engine once the serpentine belt finds the timing belt.Mine went through 3 pulleys, belts and an alternator pulley because of the shit quality of the tensioner.My brothers rok blew the engine because of it.This was before the robuster timing belt kit came out.The steel one has now been on mine for two years, so far so good.
