The Resin Printing Revolution - It Sucks Less Now! Uniformation GK Two Review

I hate resin 3D printing. Resin stinks, it's messy, and prints fail often. Can the hottest new resin printer change all that? In this video I take a look at the GK Two from Uniformation, providing a unique perspective on it as someone who runs a 3D printing service.

Wow and I just started looking into getting my first resin printer about 2 days ago, researching and all that and this one was high on my list. Great video!

I print in my small DIY spray paint booth (uses two 300mm 550 watt extraction fans with commercial filters), which is setup in my garage. It works great in removing all smells/fumes outside. Highly recommend for keeping you and your family healthy.

I don't like resin printers either. I typically avoid resin printing videos. Yours was well done and well though out, like your other videos. I'm glad I watched it and I'm staying with filament.

I have had the exact opposite experience with resin printing. I have had just the one anycubic photon mono 4k and it has lasted me about 2.5 years now, I always get WAY better print quality on resin prints compared to fdm. FDM is good for printing quickly and prototyping but resin makes the part 1000% better.

Internal filter circulation is more important than you think. A single pass through a carbon filter is simply not enough to remove a lot of VOCs. By re-circulating it you are keeping the VOCs in the printer and you can run the chamber fan post-print for a while to ensure most VOCs are filtered out of the air first. I don't plan on getting into resin yet, FDM is doing fine for my purposes, but for me to ever do so the printer is going to have to have an internally circulating carbon and hepa filter for me to trust it with my health, that stuff is nasty even when the smells are removed.

I feel exactly like you do. I use my resin printer when I have a figurative gun to my head and no choice but to use it. The results are amazing but it's still not worth the hassle unless I can't print the part any other way. I don't own the gk2 but am tempted to upgrade to it. But I don't love that build plate much. If I got this I would remove the carbon filter and just cap that off, and use an exhaust system to outdoors and stay out of the room while printing. I wear a mask with 60926 filters when cleaning and curing, or when I have to be in the room with the printer. Resin printing is dangerous and has to be treated with respect, or you chance getting really bad news from your doctors some years down the road.

Your frustrations sound like my experience with my original Anycubic Photon. But when i switches to my Photon Mono SE, everything just *worked*. In about a year, I've had maybe a half dozen failed prints, and had to relevel my build plate maybe twice. I also use Elegoo ABS-like Fast Gray, which prints beautifully and is very resilient to impact when cured.

Nice Video. I waiting for my Tktwo. I can't say i like resin printing, messy and worklow is everything.
In contrast to printing, I am more than convinced by the printing results. I have a P1S and I like the practical components. But for high detail like models resin are much better. And "anything that resin make sucks less" are welcome.

And i ask the support if the wifi stick included and there say yes.

I too have always avoided resin printers and have backed away from jobs that required resin printing. But recently I have been wondering why, thanks for reminding me.

I have a resin printer and have found it very messy and wasteful to use the alcohol solution for cleaning the biggest drawback in my opinion as the alcohol vat gets dirty quite quickly and you have to set it aside for a long time for the plastic to cure in the alcohol before you can reuse the alcohol and dispose of the resin. My garage is now full of toxic chemicals and stinks whenever I print anything, all this to still have failed prints. You need to print an awful lot of stuff to make back the cost of buying the printer. Debugging can be difficult to as, after months of failed prints, I finally realized it always failed when the outdoor temperature dropped below 10'C in overnight prints and I had to buy a heater.

Hello I just bought this printer at a really good price because the seller has no time for it but it’s stuck in customs. Does anybody know the exact weight and dimensions of the original box? Thanks allot

I placed a glass screen protector on my photon mono X and sealed it in place with kapton tape. I learned this from using a smaller photon first. I level before each print, clean the vat and spray it with ptfe. You have to be serious about the prints if your going this route.

im about to get an upgrade from Mars 4 Ultra, jeez... that was a pain in the backside, leveling was made so stressful as 1 side NEVER is leveled no matter how much you relevel it. temperature problems, as its always cold where i am. fep/acf problem which also brings from the levelling being a problem, the single wobbly Z bar it has.
When it worked it works but mars 4 ultra was the first printer i had, i learnt a lot from it though which is good but having the inconveniences it gave me... hoping the GKtwo can fix and tick those boxes for me 🙃

Great review! What 3d scanner do you use? And do you recommend it?

Interesting video as always 👍
Im no fan of rasin printing.
The epoxy resin is in my opinion only for industrial purpose, or on a highly temperature and toxin controlled environment.
And not being able to smell the rasin, is not the same as it is safe!
Try to measure the toxic molecules in the air, and you will be scared.
I still thing the industry havent made the resin/uv process mature enough for hobby usage.

Can you link the scanner you used for the chair ? Maybe a review video?

This is a great relatable video and I'm finding it at the perfect time. Recently upgraded my FDM machines to a couple Bambus and it's been such a game changer that I've been looking at my resin machines trying to figure out which one I should buy to feel like a comparable upgrade. Was considering the Sonic Mega 8k for this ability to do huge batches, but reliability and consistency is ultimately what matters most to me, so I can focus less of my time on maintenance, downtime, and failures. It's the perfect time because I also just had a Halot Mage's UV light die (flickering) I'm going to buy a couple of these bad boys with your ref link right now. Your channel really deserves to pop off in this space.
