This literally just appeared on my YouTube thread. I don't usually comment on anyhing, however I had to write a wee anecdote that immediately came to me.

I worked as a Stage Manager for a number of years back in the early 80s to the late 90s.

I was very fortunate to work with many household names over that period.

I can honestly say, Debbie Harry was not only one of the best singers I saw live, but also one of the nicest people I had the pleasure of meeting.

Her voice during the sound check & her performance during Blondies set was absolutely phenomenal.

She had the crowd in the palm of her hand within 5 mins!!

Special mention for Clem Burke too, quite simply the best drummer I've ever seen on a stage!!!

To this day, every time I listen to Blondie or hear them or Harry on the radio, the memories come flooding back.

Clem Burke is one of the best drummers in the music scene, IMHO. So tight, like a metronome. Highly underrated. He gave the band something special.

Saw her and pretenders in small venue in Sydney
she hardly had to sing a song
crowd just took over at start of every song
one of the great night's of my life
LEGEND

She and her voice have aged well, yes she's not singing particularly high but it still sounds nice

She always gets me in that first descending arpeggio... so accurate and smooth.

Blondie’s Parallel Lines was my first album. I think I was 7. I played the record over and over. Fade Away and Radiate is the best song on there IMO. She was so beautiful. Still is. :)

I gotta say, you're one of my top favorite reactors. I like the analysis, or "what makes them them". 💟 You're appreciated

She still sounds great. Back in the 70's/80's on their albums she was incredible! Love "Blondie"!

Blondie was is such a great band, Debbie was perfect, voice, attitude/ charisma, talent and of course looks. The drummer, Clem Burke, is one of the best ever, bar none. Great analysis Beth, I learned a lot today.

I remember when this album "Parallel Lines" came out in 1978. I was at a New Years party the last day that year. We all brought albums to play. I put on the album and one of the people at the party said "They will never be big". I responded your wrong they will be huge. The following Summer after this was released as a single it was the biggest song during the Summer. You heard it everywhere. I told him "Never big, eh"? Still love predicting it would be huge!

I watched her last Stage performance, Its incredible how she still performe all the old hits, with her age, over 70. Blondi, DEVO and Joy Division, are unique and was way ahead of their time. DEVO still is hundreds of years head:D

Vocal coach that hisses when she talks...Debbie is 100x her superior

She has transposed this down a whole step (?) from the original recording, very common as we age and can't get those higher notes we could when we were young whippersnappers.

So funny - right before you mentioned the "shoulder dance" I started doing it myself, and I wasn't even looking at the screen at the time.

Long time fan of Blondie. Thank you!

I happened to have listened to "Parallel Lines" about 5 times in the last 2 or 3 weeks, and I was paying attention to the plethora of vocal sounds she can make. Ostensibly Pop songs, the singing style over them certainly takes away from anything potentially plastic and hollow sounding. She's just gifted with a certain skull and enough influences to have learned how to use it!

I wonder, I'm even shocked, тhere are so many people who react to Blondie songs and none of them is "Maria". And "Maria" is one of her best songs, I would even say the greatest song. So I wonder - there was no one to finally react to this great song "Maria"!?
