Crazy Greek Driving 06 - Τρελός Οδηγός στην Πρέβεζα

Κινούμενος από Άρτα προς Πρέβεζα φτάνω την BMW με πινακίδες Ιωαννίνων η οποία κινείται αργά. Από πίσω έρχεται ένα αυτοκίνητο με πινακίδες Άρτας. Παρά το γεγονός ότι είναι ντόπιος δεν γνωρίζει τον δρόμο και θεωρούσε πως έπρεπε να περάσω αμέσως την BMW (ακούγεται η κόρνα και έπαιζε και τα φώτα), πράγμα που, όπως φαίνεται από το βίντεο, θα ήταν εξαιρετικά επικίνδυνο, καθώς δεν είχα ορατότητα στο αντίθετο ρεύμα (αμέσως εμφανίζονται αντιθέτως κινούμενα οχήματα). Ο οδηγός αρχίζει τις χειρονομίες, ενώ χτυπιόταν κυριολεκτικά μέσα στο αυτοκίνητο. Μόλις βρέθηκε ευκαιρία πέρασα, ενώ το πίσω αυτοκίνητο ακολούθησε με τα φώτα να παίζουν συνεχώς. Ενώ έχω φτάσει τα 90, κόβω για λίγο στα 80 για να περάσει, αλλά ο οδηγός προτιμά να κάθεται από πίσω, να ανάβει φώτα και να χτυπιέται. Αποφασίζει να περάσει, όταν επιτάχυνα στα 90. Περνάει, συνεχίζει τις χειρονομίες και κάνει σήμα να σταματήσουμε δεξιά... μάλλον για να παίξουμε ξύλο. Κόβει δεξιά, τον περνάω και συνεχίζει το ίδιο βιολί μέχρι που κάνω πως στρίβω δεξιά στην διασταύρωση, ώστε να με αφήσει ήσυχο. Πριν φύγει προς Πρέβεζα ρίχνει και ένα τελευταίο βρίσιμο...

As I reach the slowing moving BMW I see a car with local licence plates coming fast from behind. Even though he was a local guy he didn't have situational awareness and wanted that I overtake the BMW by using the horn and flashlights of his car. I overtook the BMW when it was safe to do but the driver from the following car was jumping around his the from his anger. He overtook after me, came behind my car and started flashing lights and doing signals once again. I reduced my speed to 80 so he can overtake but instead, he continued the same pattern: flashing lights and jumping all around his car. I accelerated to around 90kmph and he followed me, overtook and by doing signals he showed his intention to stop and fight me (see how he stops). I overtook and he continued the same pattern once again. Finally, I exited the road to avoid confrontation. When he overtook for the last time he was swearing once again.

Greek drivers and greek roads are a recipe for disaster. I was there in 2018 and took the risk of hiring a car and the amount of near misses and swearing was my daily routine.The highways were the safest place to be, but when you got off the highways and drove through towns and regional areas my blood pressure went through the roof.It was the law of the jungle.I was swearing in greek English and any other language I could think of, I was basically speaking in tongues.Greece is a beautiful country, but the driving is ...O.M.G.As far as parking goes, first in best dressed ...double parking, triple parking and even quadruple parking is accepted, there's no police to book offenders because no one pays for traffic offences Unbelievable stuff...next time I visit I'll catch public transport....that's another story in itself.
