They (and other antiquities), should be returned to Egypt....

If they aren't returned, there should be a copy made to be used with the stele in front of the Sphinx. The copy should be made to last for centuries.

The people who have the stele should returned to it's rightful place. Too many treasures were taken from Egypt.

I agree, I would like to see them back in Egypt But, what would really if they were returned? If they were put back in places where erosion would erase the inscriptions, or looters would damage them? Have we forgotten what happened in 2011? The Baghdad batteries are still missing.

That’s not what the Sphinx looked like the day it was finished being built, but how it looked after Thutmoses & Ramses finally finished digging out and doing repair work.
It’s so sad that some maniacal pharaoh disfigured the Sphinx by putting his visage on it, rather than restoring it or leave it alone!

Everyone saying they were stolen is a fool. THANK GOD the early archaeologists removed the relics they found, or reburied the discoveries they made. Otherwise NOTHING would remain. They would have been sold on the black market or destroyed.

At the very least, the Louvre should commission two reproductions, so they can be placed back where they were taken from. It would not be good to put the originals back, of course.
