Slam Dunk is such an amazing manga. I hated basketball for the longest time until I read this manga. Now it's one of my favorite sports to watch and play

The fact that so many sport manga today inspire by slam dunk, my favourite is haikyuu but man, so many feature in haikyuu so familiar in slam dunk when i read it

I do love me some Slam Dunk, have read it multiple times & the Manga is the best way to experience it, but Ippo & Major (haven’t read the Major Manga) always compete with it for top sports series in my mind. 😭

(Basketball has always been my favorite sport though, so glad it helped to get so many new people, yourself included, into the sport!)

Slam Dunk made me cry. It also made me do a lot of things from get hyped to die laughing. But man did i cry watching Slam Dunk dont ask me why because nothing sad like proper sad happens but man i cried so much at one point, it was definitely the most i cried for a while.
Also only watched it last year for first time.

I live near Barcelona, Spain, and in my city there was also a huge spike of basketball players after the local network broadcasted the anime on TV. One of the best spokon ever alongside with Hajime no Ippo

Slam Dunk makes me watch NBA. I didn't get the charm of basketball until i read it.
Inoue really captures the spirit of basketball which is every plays matter. He makes every play of the match feels captivating. Most importantly, every panel of the match makes me feel the passion from the characters' and Inoue's himself.

It didn’t bring the sport of basketball to Japan. It brought basketball to ASIA. I remember all the boys in my school in Malaysia suddenly getting really hyped about basketball after reading this manga.

So the only sports that are played in the middle of bumfuck nowhere that I'm from in northern iraq are soccer and volleyball which i really sucked at, 'till i started reading slam dunk back in middleschool which turned me into a huge basketball geek and made me finally use my slight height advantage, i ended up joining a basketball team briefly in highschool had the best time of my life until i had to leave because of senior highschool, inoue was so real for this one💪
