Vøringsfossen Waterfall in Norway

There is natural beauty everywhere you look in Norway's Hardanger region. Blooming orchards line the roadside while dramatic waterfalls plunge right by.

Of those waterfalls, Vøringsfossen is one of the most famous in all of Norway. The powerful waterfall plunges down more than 180 metres as the landscape rapidly transitions from mountains to fjord.

Vøringsfossen is on the Hardangervidda national scenic route, and so an ideal stop when driving between Oslo and Bergen.

It is a great waterfall. We visited this summer on our epic trip to Norway on our Haley Davidson!

I visited the waterfall on an organised tour with Fred Olsen, I would do it again (though I would choose to go onto the Hardangervidda plateau as well rather than visit the nature centre). Much easier than trying to sort it ourselves and had a most enjoyable trip out. There was also time to look round Eidfjord.

I’ve been here twice. I agree that there is no need for making it a tourist attraction. The world is getting richer. There will never be shortage of wealthy tourists visiting such sights even though the tourist prices are so high. I am more for nature and less for commercial or human activities.
