In the ultimate 2 stroke battle we see the Megalodon 700 go head to head against the YZilla 500, and then we see the Big Bore beasts go toe to toe versus the KX450 race bike. KTM 250 was close enough to the 500 I must say I'm quite surprised and really questioning the value of so much raw power on the dirt. Power's great, but if you can't connect it to the ground you're wasting it and just spinning your wheel.

As an ex CR 500 owner who has raced a KTM 250F it is no lost on me that most people would ride a 250F faster including myself. But that has nothing to do with why you ride a 500. I have spent 15y off a bike and now at 55 just brought a KTM300SX. Best thing I have done in years! I loved my two 500's but this 300 is something else. Riding a big bore 2t just forces a compulsory smile that for me takes a till Wednesday to fade. I rode CR 500 exclusively for 5 years. I loved every second of it. The sound, the raw power, the fuckin ridicules hills my mate and I concurred, the bog holes we shredded. One day we lost our minds and before we realize what we had done we scalped and entire hay paddock in the dead of winter. We stripped it back to clay. No bike can move earth like a 500 they are insane! That's why you buy these things, its got nothing to do with being competitive. I would not trade my 300 for and old CR 500 now because my 300 is just flat out a better bike. But shit this BRC build has peaked my interest. I'd like to too see what its like in and enduro type environment or even just good old trail ride but not the boring crap you do in the UK I mean a real trail ride like we do here in New Zealand. The guys with money to do this are more likely guys like me who ride for the pure joy of it and we don't race moto x anymore.

Shame nobody had an old 490 Maico there, I am sure my old 1983 Maico was way faster off the line and got the power down better than the 93 cr500 I had years later, but maybe that's just an old mans dodgy memory lol.

It really comes down to getting the power to the ground the tires and the rider weight, gearing. The IRC M5B would move heaven and earth in that soil!
