Well, this clip made it all clear as mud.

People need to pay attention to what he's saying.
He's telling us that the plank length is the smallest MEASURABLE distance. He did not say the plank length is the smallest POSSIBLE distance. They are two distinct and different concepts and all too many people conflate the two.

Me realizing why my physicist girlfriend calls me "plank length" 😢

I never would have thought that Neil and Matt would be in the same room together - and I'm here for it

Rare footage of Neil letting someone speak

This gentleman is a true scientist, not satisfied with current limits. Necessary for the next leap in our understanding. Bravo!

The Planck length is about 10^(-35) metres. A human is about 10^0 m (1 metre). The observable universe is about 10^26 m. So, if you scale the Planck length up to the size of a human,  a human would be a billion times bigger than the observable universe

If I recall correctly from PBS Spacetime the limit is there because if you condense information any further than a plank unit it becomes unretrievable, as in it's there but it becomes something like a black hole event horizon.

Two people with such soothing voices, I can never get through a whole video. No chance I can watch the full length of this one!

This was wonderful, a grand philosophical work in it's own right.

I've finally, at 80, been hit with a plank.

Gosh, these roundtable discussions by extraordinary minds and educators about extraordinary facts and ideas is breathtaking.

interesting fact about planck length: proportionally speaking, we as humans are closer to being the size of the observable universe than we are to being the size of a planck length. It's unimaginably small

It reminds me of something I heard when I was a kid that if you cut something in half, you will keep cutting it forever. That was a very long time ago since I am 77 yrs old.

Both are great physics and science voices, each with their own field.

Matt O'Dowd hosts a YT show called PBS Spacetime where he discusses the last physics theories and their implications, hence the actual limits of physics.

Although I follow him for years, I can barely understand 10% of the subjects he touches but the things I manage to catch are amazing.

The plank length is the smallest length that can keep its shape in this side of the universe. It can still be broken down in an environment similar to the inside of a black hole.

The Planck length is the shortest length that can be calculated from the fundamental constants. The reason physics stops "working" at that length is that you can't use the fundamental constants to determine if anything is happening below that length.

enough time to Talk about how information is Broken down, And To Reverse it, Agreed 💯 I knew you Would

Great, now I'll be thinking about this all day!
And my thoughts wont stop till I can infinitely keep thinking about it 🙄
